Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) specializes in Construction and Program Management services, directly supporting Governmental and Institutional agencies on a diverse range of projects. Summary

Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) is seeking a Junior Project Manager to become an integral part of our team! This position will work with the NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) on the Queens Civil Courthouse Plaza and Sidewalk Reconstruction project at 89-17 Sutphin Boulevard, Jamaica, NY 11435.

Project Scope and Design Elements
Location: Directly outside the Queens Civil Courthouse on Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica.
Plaza Upgrades: Installation of new granite pavers, black granite benches, and matching black granite seatwalls.
Pedestrian & Landscape Features: Addition of new ginkgo trees, dedicated grass planting areas, granite curbs, and optimized sidewalk circulation patterns.

Site Infrastructure: Integration of new property drains, bike parking racks, low-pressure hydrants, and metal bollards alongside restructured juror queuing zones.

Minimum Requirements:

• Baccalaureate Degree in engineering/architecture and/or construction related field from an accredited college or university.
• 1-3 years of full-time experience as a technical specialist.
• OSHA 30 certification is required.
• A driver's license valid in New York State.
• Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages including but not limited to MS Windows; MS Office (including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist the Project Manager to ensure the completion of projects.
• Understand the scope of the project.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee operations.
• Assist with timeline development and ensure production is on schedule.
• Coordinate tasks and resources.
• Provide supervision from start to finish and offer guidance to improve progress.
• In charge of hiring and training project development staff.
• Concisely communicate with other departments to fill project needs.
• Search for ways to improve efficiency while lowering project costs.
• Review project quality and create relevant reports.

We have been in business for over 30 years and have completed well over 500 projects. We currently have somewhere between 50-60 employees.

Because we are a woman-owned firm we are on contracts with larger Construction Management firms such as LiRo, Hill International, Jacobs, Tectonic, Gilbane, etc. and we help them to meet their WBE goals. We provide Project Managers, Inspectors, Estimators, Office Engineers and so on. Currently we are on about 10-15 different contracts.
